Alternative comedy night relaunches in Leeds

“Group Therapy has a loyal and solid audience, but its staggering ability to attract massive names – and the extraordinary ability of the club’s organisers to spot the hottest new talent – has made it a place that people are desperate to go to and artists are excited to play.” Not our words but the words of CityLife and once a year we focus one of our shows on the best new talent in the country with THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN.
We’ve chosen six of our favourite new acts and one of our most popular comperes to guide you through our pick of the funniest and exciting new acts on the circuit today. And at just £7 for a ticket that’s £1 per act! Not only that but we’re in our new home at the beautiful Duke Studios.
As usual our headliner will be a breakthrough act that is about to hit the big time and great things are expected for SEAN MCLOUGHLIN. Sean is a favourite on the circuit and recently supported Ricky Gervais on his ‘Humanity’ tour and David Brent’s live shows as well as Katherine Ryan and Doc Brown. His on-screen credits include Russell Howard’s Stand-Up Central and Live at the Comedy Store. Sean’s most recent TV outing was starring in Viceland’s ‘Brexit Stage Left’ alongside Jamali Maddix, Fern Brady & Alfie Brown.
In his handful of Edinburgh shows, Sean has established himself as an unmissable, powerful and revelatory performer. “The standout stand-up” Evening Standard.
Your host for the evening will be JACK EVANS, the lizard prince of Manchester’s alternative circuit, creator of Lancashire’s number one improvised sci-fi panel show in the back of a pub ‘Control Panel’. His madcap 2016 Edinburgh show ‘Melancholy Poontang’ was named one of i-D magazine’s top five shows at the Fringe.
“An alternative tour de force” Edinburgh Festivals Magazine
“Go see him if you like weird stuff” Short Com
“As inventive and unsettling as a one-man League of Gentlemen.” i-D
“Evans is clever, creative and funny.” The Scotsman
