Join us for the launch of ‘Harry Potter: A History of Magic’, an exhibition running 3 Dec 2017 – 29 Jan 2018 at Leeds Central Library.

Journey to where magic and myth began… Have you ever wanted to delve into Divination, ponder the peculiarities of Potions and discover magical creatures? Now you can. In partnership with the British Library, Leeds Central Library will be capturing the traditions of folklore and magic at the heart of the Harry Potter stories. Delving deep into our archives to bring you a display of magical treasures and tales from your local area, celebrate the 20th anniversary of the publication of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone with Leeds Libraries.

Like Diagon Alley there will be stalls selling all kinds of magical wares. Have your fortune told by a student of Professor Trelawney’s. See the historic books full of witches, fantastic beasts and the supernatural. Visit the Herbology Room a space curated by The Plant Room (https://twitter.com/_theplantroom) filled with botanical illustrations and extraordinary plants inspired by the magical plant studies of JK Rowling’s Harry Potter stories.
