The Henry Moore Institute

Award-winning exhibitions venue, research centre, library and sculpture archive

The Henry Moore Institute hosts a year-round programme of exhibitions, conferences, lectures, research, and publications, with the intent of expanding the understanding and scholarly material surrounding the subject historical and contemporary sculpture. The Institute is a part of The Henry Moore Foundation, which was set up by Moore in 1977 to encourage appreciation of the visual arts- especially sculpture.

That doesn’t make them exclusive. In fact, the foundation prides itself on being dedicated welcoming everyone with any range of experience to observe, study and enjoy sculpture. That’s why admission to all their galleries is free, and why so many interested souls head in the foundation’s direction six days a week.

These galleries present solo and group projects from all across the world, diversifying the landscape of Yorkshire with their vibrant edges. Throughout the year, conferences and talks are organised to help budding learners to explore how sculpture is understood today, as guest international research fellows are invited to develop new understandings for all of us.

With over 20,000 books, catalogues and pamphlets in its library, and located in the heart of Leeds, the Henry Moore Institute is the centre for the study of sculpture.
