Hyde Park Picture House

Established in 1914, the Hyde Park Picture House is one the UK’s oldest cinemas. Stepping inside their Grade II listed building, complete with gas lighting, balcony and red curtains, is like stepping back in time, where projectionists continue to be trained in the art of 35mm projection and friendly staff like to greet you as you enter and hear what you thought of the film as you leave.

In contrast to it’s traditional building is a wonderfully contemporary film programme, mixing the best award-winning new releases with exciting foreign language, art-house and re-mastered classics which audiences can fall in love with all over again. Films are often supplemented with extra activity too, whether that’s informative Q&As with filmmakers, lively panel discussions, occasional live musical accompaniments or fun craft activities before family friendly films.

The cinema is also a charity, which means it puts film before profits, making the tickets much cheaper than you might expect. That coupled with comfy seats, tasty craft-beers, and the latest in digital projection technology, makes the Hyde Park Picture House a wonderful meeting point of new and old, where you can experience brilliant films in a setting that is as old as film itself.
