The Stanley and Audrey Burton Gallery

An oasis of calm and inspiration, just minutes from Leeds city centre

Free and open to the public, The Stanley and Audrey Burton Gallery is the hidden gem within the crowning jewel of the University of Leeds’ campus- The Parkinson Building.

The Gallery offers innovative contemporary exhibitions and displays treasures from the University Art Collection and the University Library Special. With stunning examples of European and British painting, drawings and prints, dating back to the 17th century, these showstoppers, plus a host of small collections of sculpture, ceramics, miniatures and photographs, will have you lost in The Stanley and Audrey Burton Gallery all day long.

With a lively programme of public events – including artist talks, roundtable discussions, and workshops – the gallery invites researchers, students, and the general population of Leeds with open arms to enhance their understanding and appreciation of the visual arts as a vital element in intellectual and spiritual well-being.

Constantly preserving, researching, managing and promoting the collection and improving its accessibility as a space for study, research, reflection and enjoyment for all, The Stanley and Audrey Burton Gallery plays an important part in building the University’s national and international reputation as a vibrant educational, cultural and research institution.
